Simplified photovoltaics on the balcony - new legal requirements
In Germany there have been several changes to the law and adjustments to the regulations for balcony power plants in recent years in order to facilitate and promote their use for private households. The following changes are intended to promote the use of balcony power plants, reduce bureaucracy and make the installation safer and more user-friendly.
- The power limit has been raised. The maximum output of balcony power plants was limited to 600 watts. A change in the law now increases this limit to 800 watts. This allows users to install more powerful systems and generate more electricity.
- The registration of balcony power plants with the network operator and the Federal Network Agency has been simplified. A simplified registration process is used to speed up commissioning.
- There is no feed-in tariff for the excess electricity that is fed into the public grid from balcony power plants. The electricity generated should be used primarily for personal consumption.
Please note:
Have the solar device connected by a trained electrician. The general safety rules for electrical installations must be observed. When using a solar module, you need a meter with a backstop to prevent your electricity meter from turning backwards if more electricity is produced than is consumed. Register the solar device with all official authorities. If necessary, the network provider will replace your old mechanical electricity meter and replace it with a modern, digital meter that is required for operation.
